Pair of exquisite bronze Statues of the Mythological creatures ‘Kinnari’ (Male & Female) ‘The lovers.’ (Poem Below) From Thailand. Perfect wedding or romantic gift.
Thai culture assimilated much of it’s mythology from India, not only from their food, language and religion but also their art, with a Thai twist of course. This statue is an example of such with it’s exquisite attention to detail. This statue will do well as a gift or in your home with the light reflecting off of it giving it such majestic appeal.
In Buddhist and Hindu mythology, a Kinnara (Female) & Kinnari (Male) are lovers, celestial musicians, half-human and half-horse (India) or half-bird (south-east Asia).
The epic poem goes a little something like this:
“We are everlasting lovers and beloved.
We never separate.
We are eternally husband and wife.
No offspring is seen in our lap.
We are lover and beloved ever-embracing.
In between us we do not permit any third creature demanding affection.
Our life is a life of perpetual pleasure.”
